There is a boundary cross set on a grass verge on the north east side of the road junction at the southern end of the Master Dike, a drainage channel which runs along the parish boundary between Tydd St Mary and Sutton St James. The cross comprises a socket stone and part of the shaft.

The socket stone is nearly square (0.6m E-W by 0.65m N-S) possibly with a chamfer around the upper edge, but more likely just worn. It is in a vulnerable position from grass cutting and dyke clearing activities and there is some damage to the NE corner of the stone. It is partly buried with a maximum of 0.3m above ground.

The shaft is central and is 0.3m x 0.3m at its base. The corners are stopped and chamfered to octagonal section which tapers up to a height of 1.1m. It is 0.28m x 0.27m at the top and is cut level leaving a flat top with no holes or fixings. The shaft has been broken off and repaired with mortar (by the local farmer) fairly recently.
