There is a restored cross in the churchyard of St Mary’s at North Somercotes, located to the south of the west end of the church.

The cross comprises a square socket stone (0.7 x 0.7m by 0.31m high) with a slightly chamfered upper edge. The shaft, which is fixed in with lead, is square at the base with moulded and chamfered corners to form an octagon. The height of the medieval portion of shaft is 0.98m.

The socket stone and the lower part of the shaft are medieval, while the upper part of the shaft is a modern restoration. The cross head, which is also modern, takes the form of an overlarge cross with splayed ends and chamfered edges. It is an ungainly restoration.
