A square socket stone 0.68m x 0.70m stepped down to octagonal the stepped down again to smaller octagon – The socket is square.

Cross base is 46 cms above modern ground level

The shaft is restored (1903) but the lowest section (0.65m) looks like it might be original Rectangular section 0.26m E-W x 0.29m N-S. The shaft has rolled corners.

Three restored sections of shaft (1.18m) then the upper two portions up to restored head also look as if they might be originals.

The head has a new gabled knop with a small scroll-armed cross on top – all looks restored but the cross head is such an oddity you can’t help but wonder if its original. The listing says this is a cross of c.1310 – unusually precise so there may be documentary evidence for its origins.
